Overview - Results
Finanzed with money from the INTERREG IIIa programme of the European Union, the Danish Storstrøms Amt in Nykøbing and the German Environmental authority in Lübeck were able to get in close cooperation on lake-monitoring and lake-restauration.
Both partners were enabeled to learn about new aspects on lake restauration. The currency modelling with the future aim of increasing the water quality was of big interest for the Danish partners, wherelse the elimination of phosphorous with the aluminium-treatment showed the German partners a new way in dealing with an overload of nutrients.
With help and the transboundary transfer of knowledge from Nykøbing to Lübeck, the german team was enabeled to realize a short term lake-monitoring with a rich outcome. The Danish experience on this topic was used to choose the needed parameters for water sampling, biological survey and analysing of the catchment area.
The professionel teamwork was very constructive and brought up a big number of results which will be the basis for future projects in both areas. Both teams are hoping for a future cooperation because the built up network was very enriching in both ways, professional and social. Moreover a communication process was started in the regions to get in touch with all stakeholders and other public departments. On the basis of this network and the transfer of knowledge about these complex ecosystems it will be possible to realise common projects with the stakeholders and decision-makers on sustainable lake-restauration.
